| Gaymar Industries has announced the availability of the new PurGel® Clam Shell Pad heel and foot protector, an operating room positioning device. Secured with a hook-and-loop fastener, the Clam Shell Pad wraps around and contours to protect heels even when the patient's foot slips during a procedure. Especially well-suited for long procedures, it aids in preventing subcutaneous tissue damage by reducing pressure that restricts blood flow to a patient's bony prominences during surgery.
The Clam Shell Pad is resistant to fluid, fungus, and odor and uses a patented Xcelgel¨ gel formula that conforms to the patient, prevents bottoming, and reduces shear. Designed with minimal edges for easy cleaning, all PurGel devices are latex-free and non-conductive, and they also feature X-ray translucent capabilitites. PurGel's vibrant purple color is easy to see, thereby decreasing the chance of any device being inadvertently tossed in with linens.

The Silipos A/K Silosheath is fabricated as a prosthetic nylon sheath coated with Silipos medical grade mineral oil. The polymer gel conditions the skin and protects the residual limb while absorbing shear and directional forces. The A/K Silosheath minimizes abrasions and skin breakdowns and maximizes comfort.
The A/K Silosheath is available in three sizes: I wide/short, II wide/medium, and III X-wide/short. Adaptable for use with other interfaces, the A/K Silosheath is constructed of nylon to provide optimal range of motion and comfort.

Foot Orthosis and Ankle Brace
| Johnson's Orthopedic Designs has introduced the Richie Brace. Combining a custom foot orthosis with an ankle brace for extraordinary stability, the Richie Brace is effective for treating ankle sprains and weakness, as well as debilitating degenerative pathologies of the foot and ankle.
The Richie Brace is designed to treat transverse plane and frontal plane pathologies by combining the stabilizing effects of a prescription orthotic with an upright plastic strut ankle brace, articulated at the patient's anatomical ankle hinge axis. The brace allows for the combination of a semi-rigid ankle brace with a custom balanced foot orthosis and represents a comprehensive approach to treating chronic subtalar instability with functional ankle instability.
The patented custom fabricated ankle-foot orthosis is designed to be worn with any lace-up shoe that has a stiff shank and deep heel counter. It features a custom balanced foot orthosis for hindfoot and forefoot control, a custom articulated hinge for comfortable and unrestricted motion and biomechanical and anatomical axis alignment, a medial flange aspect for midfoot and talo-navicular control, and a 35-mm heel cup for calcaneal stability.
